Frequently asked questions

How does a prescription renewal work?

You meet by video with a clinician who reviews your history and current medication. When it's clinically appropriate, they renew it and send it to the pharmacy you choose — without the wait of a full in-person appointment.

Can you renew my prescription?

Yes, when it's clinically appropriate. A clinician reviews your history and current medication and renews what's working. Some medications — including most controlled substances — can't be renewed this way or need an in-person visit, and your clinician tells you up front.

What if my symptoms have changed?

A renewal is for medication that's still working as expected. If something has changed, like new side effects or symptoms returning, your clinician may recommend a fuller visit or in-person care instead of a straight renewal.

Which medications can be renewed this way?

Many common maintenance medications can. Controlled substances and certain high-risk medications have stricter rules and often need an in-person visit; your clinician will tell you what's possible up front.

Can I get a new medication or a dose change too?

Yes — if your clinician thinks an adjustment or a new medication is appropriate, they can handle that in the same visit, or point you to the right next step.
