Frequently asked questions
How does a new medication consult work?
You meet by video with a clinician who already has your history. They talk through what you're hoping for, weigh it against your health, and — when it's appropriate — send a prescription to your pharmacy with a clear plan for follow-up.
Can I get a prescription for a specific medication?
Maybe — a clinician decides what's safe and appropriate for you. They'll talk through what you're hoping for, weigh it against your history, and prescribe when it fits. If it isn't the right call, they'll explain why and walk you through alternatives.
Is a video visit enough to start a new medication?
For many medications, yes. Some require an in-person exam, lab work, or monitoring before starting, and your clinician will tell you if that's the case and help you arrange it. New or severe symptoms may need urgent care instead.
What about controlled substances?
Controlled substances have stricter rules and often can't be started over video, or need an in-person visit first. Your clinician will be upfront about what's possible.
Will we talk through side effects?
Yes — understanding the tradeoffs is part of the visit. Your clinician walks you through what to expect, what's serious, and what to watch for, so you can decide with clear information.
