What is Injectable Wegovy®?
Injectable Wegovy® is the gold-standard semaglutide formulation for weight management. It is backed by years of clinical research demonstrating not just weight loss, but meaningful health outcomes that extend life.
What makes Injectable Wegovy® distinct from the newly approved oral version is predictability and proven efficacy. The weekly injection delivers consistent, reliable absorption without the strict morning timing requirements or absorption variability of the oral formulation. Inject once a week at any time of day, with or without food—and you're done.
Taken once weekly via subcutaneous injection in the abdomen, thigh, or upper arm, Injectable Wegovy® works by mimicking the GLP-1 hormone to reduce appetite, slow gastric emptying, and improve metabolic health. Most patients start at a lower dose and increase to the maintenance dose of over 16-20 weeks based on tolerance.

Reduces appetite and increases feelings of fullness
By activating GLP-1 receptors in areas of the brain that regulate hunger and satiety—helping you eat less without constantly fighting cravings or feeling deprived
Slows gastric emptying
To keep food in your stomach longer, preventing post-meal blood sugar spikes and creating a sustained sense of fullness that makes it easier to maintain a reduced-calorie diet.
Improves metabolic health
By enhancing insulin sensitivity and helping your body use glucose more effectively—benefits that extend beyond the scale to markers like blood pressure, cholesterol, and inflammation.
Protects your cardiovascular system.
In the SELECT trial, Injectable Wegovy® reduced the risk of major adverse cardiovascular events by 20% in adults with established heart disease and obesity—translating to fewer heart attacks, strokes, and cardiovascular deaths.

Ongoing support, always available.
You’ll be treated by experts with years of experience in managing weight, metabolic health, and related conditions such as hypertension and insulin resistance.
Our clinicians will monitor progress. If medication is prescribed, we will adjust dosing and manage side effects safely. If lab testing is ordered, we review results and refine your plan accordingly. You’re never left navigating alone.

How Injectable Wegovy® can change your day-to-day
Freedom from food obsession
Many patients describe a dramatic reduction in "food noise"—fewer intrusive thoughts about eating, less preoccupation with the next meal, and a greater sense of mental clarity that wasn't there before.
Confidence in long-term health protection
Knowing you're not just losing weight but actively reducing your risk of heart attack, stroke, and cardiovascular death changes how you think about your future—especially if you have established heart disease.
A sustainable routine that fits your life
One injection per week, at any time of day, with or without food. No daily pills, no 30-minute wait before eating, no worrying about absorption. You inject on your schedule and move on with your day.

Frequently asked questions about Injectable Wegovy®
How is Injectable Wegovy® different from Oral Wegovy® or other GLP-1 medications?
Injectable Wegovy® and Oral Wegovy® contain the same active ingredient (semaglutide) and are both FDA-approved for weight management and cardiovascular risk reduction. The key differences are in administration and convenience. Injectable Wegovy® is taken once weekly at any time of day, with or without food, and has the most extensive clinical evidence base including the SELECT cardiovascular outcomes trial.
Oral Wegovy® is a daily pill that requires taking on an empty stomach with no more than 4 oz of water, then waiting 30 minutes before eating, drinking, or taking other medications—which can be challenging for some patients. Injectable Wegovy® also has more predictable absorption and is the only formulation approved for adolescents. Compared to other GLP-1s, Injectable Wegovy® is the only weight loss medication proven to reduce cardiovascular events in patients with established heart disease.

What's the difference between Injectable Wegovy® and Ozempic®?
What are the side effects?
The most common side effects of Injectable Wegovy® are typically mild to moderate, occur most often during dose escalation, and tend to improve over time. They may include: nausea, diarrhea, vomiting, constipation, abdominal pain, headache, and fatigue. More serious but less common risks include pancreatitis, gallbladder problems, kidney problems,, changes in vision, low blood sugar, and increased heart rate. Injectable Wegovy® should not be used in patients with a personal or family history of medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC) or Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia syndrome type 2 (MEN 2).
Injection site reactions (redness, swelling, bruising) can occur but are generally mild and resolve quickly. Rotating injection sites each week minimizes this risk.
Has Wegovy® been studied for use in adolescents?
What has Wegovy® been approved for?
Injectable Wegovy® was approved by the FDA in 2021 for chronic weight management and expanded in 2024 to include cardiovascular risk reduction.
The clinical trials that demonstrated cardiovascular benefits (SELECT trial) and the landmark weight loss data (STEP trials) were all conducted with the injectable formulation, not the pill.
