What to know before your Mohs micrographic surgery
If you've already had a biopsy confirming skin cancer, we'll make sure your dermatologist has it before your visit, so they can walk you through what it means right away. If you haven't had that diagnosis yet, the dermatologist can biopsy the area and confirm it first.
Mohs surgery removes skin cancer in thin layers, checking each one under a microscope until the margins are clear — done under local anesthesia, often in a single visit
Recovery depends on the size of the area treated — your surgeon will go over wound care and healing time specific to your case
Your dermatologist will also go over risks, alternatives, and answer your questions before anything is decided
