What is Winlevi?

Winlevi is a topical prescription cream used to treat acne in patients 12 and older. It's the first topical treatment to work by blocking androgen receptors directly in the skin—the same hormonal pathway that drives excess sebum production and acne development. Because it acts locally in the skin rather than systemically, it can address the hormonal root cause of acne without the systemic effects of oral hormone treatments. It's applied twice daily to affected areas and is approved for use in both males and females.

Androgen receptor blockade

Winlevi competitively blocks androgen receptors in sebaceous glands, directly reducing the hormonal stimulation that causes excess oil production—one of the primary drivers of acne formation.
