Weight loss follow-up

Weight management works best as an ongoing plan, not a one-time visit. This check-in reviews how your current plan is working — medication, side effects, and progress — so your clinician can adjust as needed.

Frequently asked questions

How often should I have a weight loss follow-up visit?

This depends on your specific medication and treatment plan — your clinician will recommend a follow-up schedule based on your dose and how you're responding. Your clinician will also check in on how you're tolerating the medication overall.

Can my dose be adjusted during a follow-up visit?

Yes — if appropriate based on your weight-loss progress and any side effects you're experiencing, your clinician can adjust your dose at a follow-up. Your clinician will walk through the tradeoffs of increasing versus staying at your current dose.

What if my weight loss has plateaued?

This is common — your clinician can review your plan and discuss whether an adjustment or additional strategy makes sense. This is a normal part of the weight-loss process for many people using these medications.

What if I'm having side effects from my medication?

Tell your clinician during your visit — many side effects, like nausea, can be managed with a dose adjustment, timing change, or dietary tweak. Waiting until symptoms become severe before mentioning them isn't necessary or recommended.

What side effects are commonly reviewed at a follow-up visit?

Digestive symptoms like nausea or constipation are the most common with weight-loss medications like GLP-1s, and are a standard part of the check-in. Your clinician will ask specifically about these to see if any adjustment is needed.
