What is Tosymra?

Tosymra is a nasal spray formulation of Tosymra designed for the acute treatment of migraine with or without aura in adults. It delivers Tosymra intranasally using a specialized device that targets the upper nasal space, where absorption is faster and more consistent than standard nasal sprays. Like all triptans, it works by activating serotonin receptors that constrict dilated cranial blood vessels and block the release of pain-signaling neuropeptides. It provides a needle-free alternative with faster onset than oral Tosymra—particularly valuable when nausea makes taking a pill difficult.

Tosymra's device delivers Tosymra to the upper nasal mucosa where the olfactory region provides rapid vascular absorption—achieving faster and more predictable drug levels than conventional nasal spray devices that deposit medication lower in the nasal passage.

Serotonin 5-HT1B/1D agonism

Activates serotonin receptors on cranial blood vessels and trigeminal afferents, causing vasoconstriction and blocking the inflammatory neuropeptide release that drives migraine pain and associated symptoms.
