What is Slynd (drospirenone)?

Slynd is a progestin-only oral contraceptive containing drospirenone, a unique progestin with anti-mineralocorticoid properties that distinguishes it from other progestin-only pills. Unlike older mini-pills that require strict 3-hour timing windows, Slynd has a 24-hour missed-dose window, making it significantly more forgiving and practical for everyday use. It works primarily by suppressing ovulation more reliably than older progestin-only formulations. It's a strong estrogen-free option for women who can't use estrogen—including those who are breastfeeding, have migraines with aura, or have cardiovascular contraindications to estrogen.
