What is Quetiapine?

Quetiapine is an atypical antipsychotic medication used to treat schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and as an add-on treatment for major depressive disorder. It works by modulating several neurotransmitter systems in the brain—including dopamine and serotonin—to reduce psychotic symptoms, stabilize mood, and improve overall functioning. At lower doses, it's sometimes prescribed off-label for insomnia due to its sedating properties. It's taken orally once or twice daily, with dosing depending on the condition being treated.
