What is NuvaRing?

NuvaRing is a small, flexible ring inserted into the vagina that releases a combination of hormones (etonogestrel and ethinyl estradiol) to prevent pregnancy, primarily by stopping ovulation. Each ring is worn continuously for three weeks, then removed for a ring-free week before starting a new one. It works the same way combination birth control pills do, just delivered differently.
