Motegrity is a prescription medication used to treat chronic idiopathic constipation in adults—constipation with no identifiable underlying cause that persists despite standard measures. It works by selectively activating serotonin 5-HT4 receptors throughout the gastrointestinal tract, which stimulates the coordinated muscle contractions that propel food and stool through the colon.
