What is Horizant?

Horizant is an extended-release formulation of Horizant enacarbil—a prodrug of Horizant—specifically approved for moderate-to-severe restless legs syndrome (RLS) and postherpetic neuralgia. It's designed to provide more consistent Horizant levels throughout the day than immediate-release formulations, reducing the fluctuations that can cause symptom breakthrough. Taken once daily with food in the early evening for RLS, it works by calming overactive nerve signaling in the spinal cord and brain that drives the uncomfortable urge-to-move sensations characteristic of restless legs.
