What is Eucrisa?

Eucrisa is a prescription non-steroidal topical ointment approved to treat mild to moderate atopic dermatitis (eczema) in patients aged 3 months and older. It works by inhibiting PDE4—an enzyme that drives the inflammatory cycle in eczema—reducing the skin inflammation, itching, and redness of flares without the side effects associated with topical corticosteroids. It's applied twice daily to affected areas and offers a steroid-free alternative for patients who need ongoing eczema management, are concerned about steroid side effects, or are treating sensitive skin areas.

PDE4 inhibition

Blocks phosphodiesterase-4, an enzyme that breaks down cyclic AMP—raising cAMP levels in immune cells and dampening the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines that drive the itch-scratch cycle of atopic dermatitis.

Steroid-free mechanism

Provides meaningful eczema control through an anti-inflammatory pathway completely distinct from corticosteroids—offering an option free from the skin thinning, pigmentation changes, and HPA axis concerns associated with long-term topical steroid use.
