What is Desonide?

Desonide is a low-potency prescription topical corticosteroid cream used to treat mild to moderate inflammatory skin conditions including eczema, contact dermatitis, seborrheic dermatitis, and psoriasis. Its low potency makes it particularly appropriate for sensitive skin areas—including the face, eyelids, and skin folds—where higher-potency steroids carry greater risk of skin thinning and systemic absorption. It works by reducing local inflammation, suppressing immune activity in the skin, and relieving itching. It's applied once or twice daily and is one of the preferred topical steroids for use in infants and young children.
