Core Lipid Panel
The foundation of any heart health workup. These numbers measure how much cholesterol is circulating in your blood — the starting point your physician uses to understand your cardiovascular picture.
Apolipoprotein B (ApoB)
ApoB counts the actual number of artery-clogging particles in your blood — which is more accurate than LDL cholesterol alone. Two people can have identical LDL numbers but very different particle counts, and particle count is what drives plaque buildup. It's the single most informative lipid marker for many cardiologists.
Lipoprotein(a) — Your Genetic Risk Number
Lp(a) is one of the most important cardiovascular risk factors most people have never heard of. It's almost entirely determined by your genetics — diet and exercise don't change it — and about 1 in 5 people have elevated levels that significantly raise lifetime heart risk. You only need to test it once.
Inflammation — hs-CRP
Inflammation inside your artery walls is a key driver of heart attacks and stroke — often independent of cholesterol levels entirely. hs-CRP is the most widely validated blood marker for this, and elevated levels are an early signal worth knowing about.
Blood Sugar & Insulin Resistance
HbA1c shows your average blood sugar over the past three months. Fasting insulin adds the next layer — catching insulin resistance even when blood sugar still looks normal. Insulin resistance silently accelerates arterial damage years before a diabetes diagnosis.
Metabolic & Organ Function
Your liver processes cholesterol and your kidneys regulate blood pressure — both quietly shape cardiovascular risk. This comprehensive metabolic panel confirms these systems are working the way they should.
Thyroid — TSH with Reflex
An underactive thyroid is a frequently overlooked cause of elevated LDL and increased cardiovascular risk — especially in women. TSH checks the control signal; if it's off, this test automatically runs Free T4 to dig deeper.
Statin Baseline — CK
Creatine kinase gives your physician a baseline muscle enzyme reading before any statin therapy begins. It's not a risk marker — it's a safety reference point, so that if muscle symptoms ever come up down the road, there's something to compare against.
