What is Bactrim?

Bactrim combines two antibiotics, sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim, that work together to stop bacteria from producing folic acid they need to grow. It's used to treat urinary tract infections, certain skin infections, some respiratory infections, and other bacterial infections. It contains a sulfa drug, so it isn't an option for people with a sulfa allergy. Treatment length varies depending on what's being treated.

Dual-pathway blockade
