Experience
Ellen’s path to medicine began with a fascination for both biology and psychology—an interest that evolved into a lifelong commitment to patient care and personal growth. After earning her Physician Assistant degree from the Medical College of Georgia, Ellen began working in clinical practice, eventually building a career that spanned over 20 years. Her early years were spent in corporate and occupational health, where she provided hands-on care for injured workers, led employee health initiatives, and helped develop education programs around preventative care.
Ellen spent 13 years at Glens Falls Hospital in New York, where she worked in emergency medicine, urgent care, employee health, and occupational health. She managed everything from urgent injuries to large-scale employee wellness efforts and was instrumental in developing and implementing the hospital's bloodborne pathogen education program.
Her clinical experience was further deepened through a postgraduate residency in emergency medicine for physician assistants at Maine Medical Center—a rare and rigorous program that provided advanced training in high-acuity care.
In parallel with her clinical career, Ellen has cultivated a passion for teaching and entrepreneurship. She has founded multiple organizations—including Pink Coattails, The Fast Factor, The Magnolia Letters, and most recently, Longevity Map—all aimed at promoting women’s health, leadership, and well-being. Her work as an intermittent fasting expert with wiseHer offered personalized guidance to women navigating health and productivity in demanding professional lives.
Ellen is also the recipient of a Telly Award for The Fifth Season, a guided relaxation video created to support stress relief and mental wellness.
Today, through her writing at General Medicine, Ellen combines scientific insight with a compassionate voice, helping readers navigate everything from lifestyle health strategies to urgent care topics with confidence.
