10+ years

Jonathan R. Salik, MD, is a board-certified cardiologist with experience in non-invasive cardiology, medical education, and technology-enhanced learning. As a consulting specialist at General Medicine, he lends his cardiology expertise to our e-consult program.

After earning his bachelor’s degree in musicology from Amherst College, Dr. Salik earned his medical degree from Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons, where he was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. He completed his internal medicine residency, a year as chief medical resident, and his cardiology fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital, then earned a Master of Science in Health Professions Education from Boston University School of Medicine.

He continues to practice cardiology at Massachusetts General Hospital in both outpatient and inpatient settings, with a particular interest in pericardial disease, and he holds educational leadership roles in the cardiology division and the internal medicine residency. He completed a simulation fellowship with Harvard Medical School and the Gilbert Program of Medical Simulation, and he was selected as a Harvard Macy Scholar. He directs the Harvard Medical School Continuing Education Channel, a collaboration between Harvard Medical School and Google/YouTube Health, and he serves on several educational committees at the American College of Cardiology.

Today, Dr. Salik brings that clinical and teaching background to General Medicine, where he consults on cardiovascular questions and helps us guide patients to understand what is happening and what comes next.

In addition to his consulting work, Dr. Salik has been recognized with the Columbia University Chair of Medicine Award, the Roman DeSanctis Clinical Scholar Award, and multiple clinical teaching awards.
